The British heritage brand Fred Perry has introduced its “Black Canvas” capsule collection in collaboration with the iconic artist Jamie Reid. Reid is well-known for all the artwork and publicity that he elaborated for the music band The Sex Pistols in the late 70s, helping to shape the long-term image of punk rock in England. The capsule collection consists of three printed polo shirts, which will be available for men and women. Each of them feature a different design based on original Jamie Reid artwork.

The first shirt featuring the slogan "A Short Sharp Shock" (above) is based on an artwork from 1987. The phrase was originally used in Gilbert and Sullivan’s 1885 comic opera The Mikado. The shirt is finished with a bronze embroidered laurel wreath and will have a white screen printed Jamie Reid signature on the hem including Reid’s OVA signature symbol.

The second shirt features an image of Liberty (right). Reid has applied multi colored screen prints on the classic white M3 model, layered on top of a red embroidered OVA logo. The words “Peace Is Tough” are screen printed across the chest and the shirt is finished with a black embroidered laurel wreath. The back of the shirt is fully screen printed in red with Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People, framed by the towers of Croydon.

The third shirt depicts a screen-print of the hare (right), a symbol of free thinking, and a bronze embroidered “Time for Magic”, decorating the back while the front shows a white screen print with bronze OVA embroidery.

The collection was launched exclusively at the Dover Street Market stores in London, Ginza and New York on March 14. From 24 March, all three styles can be purchased in Laurel Wreath stores and online.
