Last week, trend forecaster WGSN announced four emerging apparel designers as finalists for the Avery Dennison Emerging Fashion Brand Award, to be awarded at the 2013 WGSN Global Fashion Awards (GFA) in October.

The finalists were chosen from a pool of more than 200 entries by an international jury of 50 prominent fashion designers, opinion leaders and journalists, and announced at a party hosted by singer and GFA judge Kate Nash at St. Martins Lane Hotel in London. The finalists are:
  • Jacob Birge of Jacob Birge Vision, a forward thinking fashion brand, specialising in high–end, modern womenswear and accessories

  • Jane Bowler of Jane Bowler, a fashion and accessories brand that transforms inexpensive, mundane and often recycled materials using unique processes

  • Angelys Balek of Angelys Balek, a contemporary women’s apparel brand that empowers women to freely celebrate their individualism and confident self-expression

  • Emma Shipley of Emma J Shipley, a luxury label specialising in fine drawing, luxury scarves and interior textiles
The award supports the advancement of emerging apparel designers from around the world by giving contestants the opportunity to showcase their branded fashion collection and marketing vision. The winner will be announced on October 30th, 2013 at an awards ceremony at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and will receive €12,000.

The award is sponsored by Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS), a global provider of sustainable packaging, labelling, embellishment and branding solutions, based in Framingham, Massachusetts.
