In January 2017 the Spanish textile manufacturing group Royo Textile will launch Royo Originals, a new premium selection of cotton fabrics for men. The new collection will offer 90 fabrics aimed at elegant, modern and cultured men focused on avant-garde image products but also caring for values such as taste and tradition.
The Originals collection will debut for s/s 2018 offering a variety of fabrics made with very fine yarns enhanced by compact weaving technology. It will also employ combed fibers and very thin yarns that will allow to obtain different textures and unique structures enriched through special finishes and highly innovative weaving techniques.
This specific s/s 2018 collection will take its inpiration from Luis Ramiro Barragán, reknown Mexican architect and engineer born in 1902. He is reknown for being a self-taught professional who acquired much of his skills and knowledge across books, art and travels without losing his personal and historical references.
His buildings are characterised by thick walls, essential geometrical volumes, sensual colours and sober materials. Other key elements of his works are water – often presented within his architecture projects through conceptual pools and fountains – and gardens, as emblems for his search of a perfect communion between construction and nature.
This fabric collection is available in shades of white, grey and neutral hues such as military green and khaki, but also dusty pinks, brick reds, browns and blues.
These fabrics textures are inflluenced by Barragan’s use of light, that can recreate small geometric motives, light-and-shade contrasting patterns, and interesting stylized surface effects often inspired by traditional moorish elements.
