European outlet operator Freeport Retail will open its first Italian outlet in spring 2014. The outlet store will be located in Brugnato, Northern Italy, between Eastern Liguria (near Portofino) and Northern Tuscany (near Versilia).

Occupying 22,000 sqm, this outlet store called Shoppin Brugnato 5Terre will host about 100 fashion and luxury retail stores. The huge complex compromises of; 3,500 sqm of green areas, 1,450 sqm of SPA fitness and beauty centres, 1,000 food and wine specialised dealers and 2,000 car parking spaces.

The area has potential to expect profits from 18 million tourists, three million residents in nearby areas and 50 million cars that pass the local A12 highway.

Freeport Retail is based in London and is reputable as an industry pioneer through developing the US concept of outlet centres in Europe from 1994. It has financed, developed and managed nine outlet villages across Europe in Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden and Denmark. Among its future projects there are openings of the Designer Outlet Village in Duisburg (Germany), The Village in Villefontaine and Le Cannet, Provence (France), the One Fashion Outlet, in Bratislava (Slovakia) and The Palette Outlets in China.

The owner of the project is Sanmauro Spa ( Manager of sales is at 18 Montenapoleone and is a Milan-based retail consultancy and brokerage specialist.
