Foot Locker is the most recognizable of all sports or outdoor retail brands in the US, says a recent survey by the North Carolina-based The SportsOneSource Group. The resulting "How America Shops Study," released this week, found that 89% of all respondents to the survey were aware of the retail brand; Dick’s Sporting Goods came in second place, with 72% of the respondents indicating awareness, while Sports Authority was third, registering a 70% awareness level. Foot Locker, Inc. also had three brands in the top 10, with Lady Foot Locker coming in fourth and Kids Foot Locker in ninth. Lady Foot Locker rose to second place in a women’s poll. Overall, though, Foot Locker was dominant across all genders, economic group, age and region, with the exception of California and the Northwest. In those areas, Big 5 Sporting Goods took the top spot, pushing Foot Locker to second place. Elsewhere, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sports Authority traded back and forth for the number two spot.
