The German Apparel Industry Foundation in Munich has announced the fifth edition of its annual competition, FASH.

FASH 2011, with its title “Attention, please,” will try to provide answers to questions such as “What is beautiful?”, “What is the impact of fashion today?” and “Can beauty provide comfort?”

The contest will be open to 420 design schools in 20 countries. Students from the fourth semester on can submit their concepts, designs and dissertations through October 14, 2010. The deadline for applications is September 21, 2010. A jury consisting of international experts from the design, industry, communication and media sectors will meet at the end of October, while the award will be handed out next year during Ispo on Feb. 6, 2011.

For the first time ever, award-winning designs will be shot by the renowned fashion photographer Gregor Hohenberg. In addition to PR support and prize money, there also will be two internship offesr, one at the German headquarters of Adidas and one at Schumacher, a designer brand located in Mannheim, Germany.

The European Fashion Award FASH has been taking place since 2005. The foundation was founded by German entrepreneur Klaus Steilmann in 1978 and continues to promote young talent.
