Italian sportswear brand Ellesse International, which belongs to Britain’s Pentland Group, has signed a licensing agreement with Focus Group, which specializes in the design, sourcing and supply of global sports and casualwear brands such as Le Coq Sportif and Fenchurch Footwear. St. Albans, UK-based Focus Group will debut both sport and fashion lines to retailers this July, with the first collections hitting the stores in spring of 2011. “This agreement is extremely exciting for the future of the Ellesse brand, not only in terms of getting us back into the UK marketplace, but by securing a quality partner in Focus Group,” Mike Stopforth, marketing director of Ellesse International, said. Ellesse International was established in Perugia, Italy in 1959 and was bought by Pentland Group in 1993. In addition to Ellesse, Pentland Group owns the outdoor, sports and fashion brands Speedo, Berghaus and Boxfresh and also is the global footwear licensee for Lacoste and Ted Baker as well as the British licensee for Kickers.
