Ebay is strengthening its presence in Europe’s fashion sector, with the launch of an online fashion outlet on April 12. The new platform will go online in the UK and Germany. The outlet concept includes items from last season’s collections and stock from brands that already operate shops on eBay. Prices will be up to 70% lower than retail. The German outlet will kick off with products from 21 brands offering fashion and accessories, such as Eastpak, Keds, Fila, Speedo and Trigema, while the British outlet will carry apparel from 24 brands, including Bench, Cloggs, Kookai, Republic and Superdry. Ebay also says it will increase its services within the fashion categories. The retailer plans to redesign its sections and boost its product presentation in a more visual way, meaning pictures will be of a higher quality and a larger size. Future plans include expanding the site with new shopping experiences. Live shopping, already launched in the US, could be one option.
