EBay, the world’s largest online marketplace and a leader in mobile commerce, has opened together with designer Jonathan Adler the “eBay Inspiration Shop”, a temporary 24/7 shoppable storefront in New York City. The store windows enable shoppers to browse and buy the new collection for the fall season.

“Consumers today expect to shop how they want, when they want – and mobile technology is blurring the lines between online and offline retail to meet this demand,” said Richelle Parham, Chief Marketing Officer, eBay North America. “The Inspiration Shop brings to life how eBay enables people to immediately act on their passion for shopping in this new commerce environment. Collaborating with a creative visionary like Jonathan Adler helps us present this innovative experience in such a chic and compelling way.”

Trendsetters, including actors, designers, bloggers, stylists, models and musicians, were asked to help curate the items featured in the windows by sharing their shopping wish lists for fall, be it fashion, motors or electronics. Adler’s iconic prints and patterns – reinterpreted in eBay’s signature colors – serve as the merchandising surrounding for the featured inventory.

Shoppers are invited to download the eBay app to scan custom Quick Response codes and shop similar items from more than 200 million listings on the eBay marketplace. The installation reinforces the shopping experience on eBay today: 62% of all listings are fixed price, 70% are new products.

The eBay Inspiration Shop is located at 404 Park Avenue South and will be open for “window shopping” through Nov. 10, 2011.
