Eastpak has done it again.

For next winter the bag and streetwear brand has unveiled another collaboration, DRKSHDW Eastpak, with the fashion designer Rick Owens’ denim label DRKSHDW.

Based in Paris, the California native is known as the king of modern, minimalist goth. Accordingly, the DRKSHDW Eastpack collection offers a selection of bags, accessories and capes with clean, crisp silhouettes and a perfect worn-in finish.

“The clothes I make are my autobiography,” Owens explains. “They are the calm elegance I want to get to and the damage I’ve done on the way. They are an expression of tenderness and raging ego. They are an adolescent idealization and it’s inevitable defeat.”

The range includes 11 styles in a choice of three colorways inspired by the DRKSHDW apparel palette: black, soft gray and pearl. Key features include coated nylon and a dry stone-washed finish. All pieces have been produced with a welding technique that gives a distinct streamlined look and every item is stone-washed and accessorized with a DRKSHDW Eastpak lanyard and coin purse.

“One of the reasons I always lived around Hollywood Blvd when I lived in LA was the energy and allure of the packs of wild kids that lived on those streets then,” says Owens. “The memory of those kids and how I felt about them is what I was thinking about when I did these bags with Eastpak.”

The new line will be launched in September 2009. Retail prices range from €50-200.

The first Eastpak collaboration was introduced in 2008. Over the past year Eastpak has collaborated with fashion designer Raf Simons, resulting in a Summer 2008 collection and two consecutive seasons of more accessible diffusion collections.
