Italian specialized down jacket brand Duvetica has just inaugurated a new showroom in Milan’s city centre, designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

The opening is part of a series of initiatives aimed at celebrating the brand’s 10th anniversary and is further aimed at increasing the brand’s presence in Italy as well as in upcoming new international markets.

The new 240 sqm showroom is based in Via Senato 41/A, not far from the brand’s flagship store in Via Santo Spirito 22, which has previously also hosted their Italian showroom since it opened in 2011, also designed by Ando. Similar to the store, the newly opened space is characterized by linear geometrical shapes, exposed concrete and essential elements. The core of the project is a curved and inclined cement wall that divides the two floors vertically.

The showroom will not only serve the Italian market but also directional clients from global upcoming markets such as Southern America (Brazil, Argentina), Middle East, Russia, New Zealand and Australia.

The brand is now distributed in 38 countries worldwide through about 2,500 wholesale stores and six monobrand stores in Milan, Tokyo, Courmayeur, Kitzbuhel, Sylt (opened in February 2014) and Gstad (Switzerland) which is due to open in August 2014. The brand’s major markets are Japan (30%), Italy (about 25%), Germany and Austria along with Switzerland (altogether representing about 25%) and Asia (China, Hong Kong and South Korea) accounting for about 10% of their sales. The company registered €35 million sales in 2013, 60% from women’s jackets and 40% from men’s items.

Duvetica offers down-jackets for men, women and kids in 24 color variants, completed by a selection of additional materials and trimmings. From s/s 2015 - and in a more concrete way from f/w 2015/2016 - they will also launch a special selection of knitwear items completed by down parts and padding. “Our aim is to remain faithful to our own DNA and identity that lays in keeping our logo almost hidden and always employing down as an ingredient to all our products,” commented Paola Albizi, designer and co-owner of Duvetica. The new selection will offer knitwear and sweatshirt items in different thicknesses, with or without inner linings and is made from different fibers including wool, cotton and cashmere. The items will be sold at retail prices between €250-€350.
