McArthurGlen opened a new extension in its Designer Outlet Roermond, Netherlands today. With the opening of the third area, Roermond now is the biggest designer outlet in Northern and Western Europe, based on the annual numbers of shoppers. With 35,200 sqm of gross leasable area, the outlet is now double the size of when it first opened ten years ago. With the new extension of 7,200 sqm, the centre offers 150 stores of international designer and mainstream fashion. The 35 new shops include brands like Moncler, Calvin Klein Collection, Navyboot, Desigual, Guess, Mexx, Ben Sherman, Bench, True Religion, O'Neill, Converse and Gant shoes, next to a Burberry flagship store with 610 sqm. The centre welcomes more than 3,8 million shoppers a year. Marc Bauwens, General Manager, Designer Outlet Roermond says: “With the opening of the new extension, we are looking to significantly increase the number of shoppers.” The fourth extension with a further area of 11,000 sqm will follow in 2014. McArthurGlen is currently developing 120,000 sqm of new retail space in Europe. The opening of three new centres in Neumünster, Paris and Miramas is confirmed.
