During the last edition of Denim Première Vision, we got the chance to contemplate what is likely to be trending during spring/summer 2017, according to the seasonal novelties of the exhibitors presented at the Californian-inspired Trends Area. In contrast to the previous summer season dominated by dark shades and decent silhouettes, 2017 will see again how vivid colors find their way back into collections and how floral and tropical motifs in jeans experience a comeback. Summer festivals and the fashion lifestyle around them was a key inspiration. Get to know the most relevant themes that will infuse denim ranges sooner than you might imagine.
Leave the winter blues behind! As soon as temperatures rise, the color intensity of your jeans will follow –pastel shades of light green, pink and blue embellished sometimes with interesting coatings are in the pipeline.
Following the music festival mood that pervaded the show, patched jeans and denim vests in mid- to dark blue hues are likely to be a big thing, especially due to customization and DIY possibilities that the trend might offer to consumers.
The settling of textured garments as a key fashion trend hasn’t gone unnoticed by the denim industry. Textile surfaces, fruit of geometrical shapes, will be yelling “touch me!”
LIGHT AS AN AIR BREEZE
Featherweight denims with little shrinking, high shape recovery properties and a super soft touch were present all across the fair grounds.
TELL IT WITH FLOWERS
Floral- and palm print jeans will bring the West Coast feeling to every corner of the world.
Degraded- and blend jeans imitating the look of sea waves with different tonalities of blue.
Sprayed denim with a worn-out look and various earth tones –especially camel- will share prominence together with pastels during SS’17.
…denim stays with us! A new twist is to superimpose it over denim patches stitched under the garment with skin remaining out of sight.
Frayed edges will be an essential detail on legs, sleeves and pocket rivets.
