Specialist denim trade show Denim by PV held 27 - 28 November 2013 registered over 3,200 industry professionals, up 20% over November 2012. This 13th edition - for the last time in Paris, Halle Freyssinet - indeed marked a turning point for the show, which will be moving into Hall 8 of the Fira Barcelona as of its next edition, May 21 - 22, 2014.

The show presented collections and the latest developments for S/S 2015 from 89 exhibitors - weavers (44%) manufacturers/launderers / finishers (23%) and accessory makers (21%) - from the 15 most important production and manufacturing countries with high-added value in the denim industry: from the Euromed zone - Turkey (30% of exhibitors), Italy (19%), Morocco (8%) and Tunisia (7%) - to Japan, and India, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Brazil.

Jeans brands, designers and major luxury names visited the show. Creative teams from significant denim brands crowded the show. Among them there were: 7 for All Mankind, Abercrombie & Fitch, Acne Studios, Acquaverde, All Saints, Ami, April 77, Bershka, Bonobo, Calvin Klein, Diesel, Edwin, Esprit, G Star, Guess, H&M, Hudson Jeans, Jack and Jones, JBrand, Lee Cooper, Levi’s, Marks & Spencer, Pepe Jeans, Ralph Lauren, Scotch and Soda, Ted Baker, Tommy Hilfiger, Trussardi, True Religion, Wrangler, Zara and Valentino.

Out of the total visitors 75% were international. Visitors from Western Europe remained the majority (71% of visitors), including a remarkable increase from Belgium (28% on Nov. 2012), there were visitors from the UK (+13%), Germany (+10%), Italy (9%) and France (11%). the show registered a return of visitors from Spain (+7%) and Portugal (+24%), whose reduced presence last season echoed their economic difficulties. Northern European and Scandinavian markets specialising in premium denim also remained strong (8% of visitors), with Denmark (+34%), Sweden (+6%) and the Netherlands (+2%) in the lead.

From non-European countries, North America, particularly the United States, saw an 8% rise in its number of visitors, despite the Thanksgiving holiday that overlapped with the show. The Middle East was also no exception, representing 14% of visitors. Above all Turkey, which continues to be a dynamic, high-performer in jeanswear, saw the strongest growth. North Africa registered 4% of visitors, with Tunisia (+58% on Nov 12) and Morocco (+62% on Nov 12) registering the strongest growth within the region.
