The 10th edition of the specialized denim-focused show Denim By Premiere Vision came to a close in Paris last week, held from May 23-24. 2,578 visitors were registered, a 10% increase from last year, confirming the show as an international meeting point for jeanswear insiders (73% attendees came from abroad, compared to 70% in 2001). Aside from French visitors, the majority of European countries showed an increase as well: Spain (+62%), Germany (+53.6%), Italy (+32%), the UK (+30%) and the Netherlands (+24%). Turkey and Tunisia saw an impressive increase of +11% and +53.6%, respectively, with the US reporting a +23.4% increase and Brazil a +41.6% increase.

The show's organization now waits on other significant results from the upcoming debut of Denim by PV Asia, taking place in Shanghai from October 23-24. The show is designed to meet the needs of upcoming Chinese brands and will host about 40 exhibitors, most of which have already participated in the European edition of Denim By PV. The Asian version will be set in the East Dock area, near the Duxi section by the Bund and will occupy about 3.000 sqm, taking place at the same time and in the same vicinity as the Premiere Vision China event, which covers 2.000 sqm, will host 60 companies (mostly haute-de-gamme textile manufacturers) and has been taking place since 2004. “We decided to establish this new Denim BY PV edition because we noticed there was a strong interest among the Asian market's key players,” said Philippe Pasquet, President of Premiere Vision. “The concept is the same as the European show and our aim is to run the event twice a year so that it becomes a fixed appointment for premium Chinese denim brands."
