This month, Converse has launched an original and colorful advertising campaign in Germany. Public spaces have been used as a canvas to express a motto against boredom: “Shoes blend in. Sneakers clash.” This continuation of Converse’s umbrella campaign “Shoes are boring. Wear Sneakers.” is a celebration of nonconformity and originality, as well as a rebellion against the daily routine.
The campaign images have been hand created by artists using spray cans, markers and brushes and can be found in two different locations: a building façade, located in the district Hamburger Berg (Hamburg) and a thirty-meter long city banner on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, right in the heart of Berlin. With this campaign, the standard advertising areas of the cities turn into large-scale art works.
“Shoes blend in. Sneakers clash.” is a multi-channel initiative, which includes advertisement pages in print, slogans from the lifestyle media and an online-campaign that aims to engage the young and urban target audience of Converse.
