Chic Beijing has closed its doors last Saturday (March 29) with some unexpected news: for its next edition, the trade show will be moving to Shanghai. From March 18-20, 2015 Chic will take place at Shanghai’s new fairgrounds (near the city airport Hongqiao) which will be inaugurated by the end of 2014. The fair’s organizers named Shanghai’s lively fashion scene, its good logistics requisites and the new fairgrounds itself as the major reasons for the relocation. Moreover, the trade show’s time slot will be shortened from the current four days (Wednesday-Saturday) to a three day period (Wednesday-Friday).

During its four trade show days (March 26-29), Chic Beijing registered a total visitor number of 90.000 which resemble a 10% cutback compared to the previous year. More than 1.000 exhibitors (of which 400 came from abroad) presented their collections. Of the eight trade show halls, six showed mainly Chinese brands or international brands distributed by Chinese agents, while two halls hosted the international brand pavilions.

Further, Chic’s newly announced change in location shall bring about some conceptual changes: For the 2015 edition of Chic in Shanghai, its exhibitors shall be categorized into lifestyle clusters rather than into the current categories of menswear, womenswear, kidswear, accessories and body/beachwear. There will also be a focus on the accessories sector.

Chic Shanghai will take place simultaneously and on the same fairgrounds as the textiles tradeshow Intertextile. Both trade shows will cover an exhibition space of 100.000 sqm.
The next edition of Chic’s young fashion concept Chic Young Blood in October 2014 will – as scheduled – take place in Beijing again, with the future location of the event still being uncertain.
