H&M Group’s upmarket fashion label COS has recently pulled up the blinds of its first store in Canada, located on 85 Bloor Street in Toronto. Opened to the public since September 18, the shop spreads across three floors with a surface over 600 sqm, offering men’s and womenswear collections. An architecture highlight is the building façade, which uses an ancient Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban that preserves the wooden exterior through charring, creating a black wood effect.

A further opening in this country is planned this fall in Montreal, located at 1310 Saint Catherine West, presenting a sales area of nearly 400 sqm. Currently, COS operates 132 stores in 27 countries. So far this year, the brand has opened 16 shops worldwide.
