Outdoor brand Columbia Sportswear Company has announced plans to launch a new line of watches and outdoor instruments in partnership with Adao Global in Austin, Texas. Targeting the trail, water, and travel categories as its key inspirations, the new line is is expected to include various combinations of altimeters, barometers, compasses, thermometers, tidal reads, moon phases, sunrise/sunset predictors, ski timers, sail timers, hydration alarms, interval timers, lap memory, and chronographs. "Columbia is taking a leadership role in the outdoor industry by bringing meaningful and easy-to-understand performance attributes that deliver real benefits to a broad set of outdoor consumers," said Mick McCormick, executive vice president of global sales and marketing for Columbia. "The watch and instrument category is a perfect place to extend this role." "This consumer wants relevant, innovative solutions that bring value to their pursuit of the greater outdoors," added David Arnold, president of Adao Global. "We are confident that this line will resonate with Columbia's targeted consumer." Look for the initial 10 styles and 36 watches to launch in Columbia stores, Columbia and in outdoor specialty and sporting goods stores this month.
