Despite doubtful voices from the industry, trade show boss Karl-Heinz Müller has ensured the taking place of the Bread & Butter trade show on Berlin’s Tempelhof grounds, scheduled for July 7-9, 2015.

After a meeting held last Friday (April 17) with approximately 40 potential exhibitors, insolvency administrator Christian Graf Brockdorff and a representative of the Tempelhof Projekt GmbH, Müller has revealed a few more details on the show’s shape and conditions.

Firstly, the much discussed 500 Euro entrance fee for all visitors from neighboring fields such as PR agencies, representatives of the pre-garment textile chain, retail designers, IT companies etc., is history. All those visitors will have free entrance, just as all visitors registered for any of the other Berlin fashion trade shows. However, the show is supposed to stay a “professionals only” event without the participation of end consumers.

Müller claimed that by now, 120 exhibitors have made use of the “early bird rate” booking, however he acknowledged that a lot of persuasion work, both on long-term B&B exhibitors as well as on new entries will have to be executed. Exhibitor payments will be made to an account of trust by the newly founded ‘Bread & Butter Tradeshow GmbH & Co. KG’ (as opposed to the insolvent ‘Bread & Butter GmbH & Co. KG’.

In the end, the show plans to occupy an area of about 20,000 sqm in three halls: Hangar 5, 6 and 7. In the main hall (former Urban Base), Bread & Butter will host its ‘Startup’ concept (more information in our previous news) for which the organizers received around 150 applications by now. Amongst the other halls, all focusing on denim, street and urbanwear, there shall be no further segmentation or clustering.

Bread & Butters renting contract at Tempelhof is valid until 2019. The show’s winter edition is to be held from January 19-21, 2016. As an outlook, Müller stated that his “further moves will be pre-decided in the future. There will be no more solo attempts.”
