For the second time Adidas and Woolmark have organized the competition Adidas x Woolmark Performance Challenge. The competition is aimed at science, technology and design students worldwide and offers them the opportunity to combine the application of their scientific knowledge with the performance benefits of Australian merino wool and use it to develop innovative new products.

This year 1,060 students from more than 115 universities in 21 countries entered the competition. From these, ten finalists were selected. In a three-day training workshop in Shanghai, organized by The Woolmark Company and partner companies, the finalists will further deepen their knowledge of merino wool. The aim is to develop a product from the combination of high-tech and merino wool for the activewear market, as wool as a fiber has a relatively small market share in the sports and outdoor segment.

"We were very impressed by the work of all these highly talented applicants. It was great to see so many forward-looking and problem-solving ideas," said Tillmann Studrucker, senior design director at Adidas. "Again, it was not easy for us to choose the top ten. I look forward to personally meeting the finalists in Munich and announcing the winner of the Adidas x Woolmark Performance Challenge 2019."

The closing event will take place in Munich on November 14, 2019. The winner will receive €10,000 in prize money and a three-month internship at Adidas.
