Retailing must reach a new level. To attract consumers in times of growing online-shopping numbers stores must convince by concepts, design and entertainment. We discovered three books that have been recently released and take a closer look at contemporary retailing by presenting interesting concepts and must-see stores in terms of extraordinary designs and assortments.
What are the essentials of good shop keeping? This and other questions about successful retailing nowadays get answered in “The Shopkeepers: Storefront Businesses and the Future of Retail”. Next to a little 101 on shop keeping the book shows a variety of store portraits of small unique shops. But not only fashion retail is being featured, the range goes from groceries, plants and barber shops to fashion and furniture.
The Shopkeepers is published by gestalten and costs 44 EUR.
But to come back to fashion matter we need to set focus on another book: “Läden 2015” is the newest copy of the interior series published by TextilWirtschaft. The book presents the most interesting and fascinating stores that opened in 2015. Over 50 shop concepts are shown and explained in detail and it also features an exclusive interview with Thomas Buisson, General Manager Europe at Aesop. This book is perfect for fashion and design lovers as well as for industry experts.
Läden 2015 is available online for 98 EUR.
Another book that has been released this year is “Great Store Design” by teNeues. The book is composed like a shopping tour that lets the reader discover glamorous Hotspots and charming insider tips. The selection of stores is not limited to fashion but goes beyond that and features every kind of store that has a “great store design”. Next to store portraits there are several interviews with the store designers.
