Barbara Casasola will be the Women's Guest Designer for the next edition of Pitti Uomo/Pitti W to be held on 7-10 January 2014.

“We chose Barbara Casasola to be Pitti’s next Women’s Guest Designer mainly because we loved her last few collections which had a clean, modern, sophisticated yet seductive and glamorous look," explains Lapo Cianchi, director of communication at Pitti Immagine, “It is as though her openly minimal and romantic style conceals – and almost represses – a desire for greater affirmation and strength. This could also reflect an important part of her personality”.

“Barbara Casasola is a young woman who has worked with a number of top fashion houses," continues Cianchi. She is proud of her homeland, Brazil, but has chosen to live and work in London, in a highly competitive environment. All her work is produced in Italy and this is another reason why we are interested in her. We are convinced that she is on the verge of taking her place on the front line of international women’s fashion and that is why we offered her a platform at Pitti.”

Born in 1984, Casasola studied Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in London and later at the Istituto Marangoni where she graduated cum laude in 2007.  On graduation, she was hired by Roberto Cavalli where she worked as womenswear assistant designer for over two years. She then moved to Paris and worked with Gabrielle Greiss, former creative director of Sonia Rykiel, on assignments for See by Chloe and Lanvin.
