London was a riot last night with the city’s most anticipated fashion event of the year, the British Fashion Awards, which took place at Lawrence Hall in Westminster. Hosted by TV presenter and all round cool-girl Zoe Ball, the ceremony welcomed an elite lin-up of designers, models, fashion editors, stylists and PRs, who carried on partying late into the night at chic-spot Maya, where Brit model Erin O’Connor hosted and Giles Deacon spun the decks.

The British Fashion Council ( honoured Stella McCartney (pictured above) with the prestigious Designer of the Year Award, beating co-nominees Anya Hindmarch and Luella Bartley to the prize.

The award for Fashion Creator was renamed this year in honour of the late Isabella Blow and was presented by Philip Treacy and Detmar Blow to award winner Michael Howells. Christopher Kane received a boost with the award for Best Newcomer, and Dame Vivienne Westwood took home the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, in recognition of her revolutionary work.
