BB Dakota, the burgeoning contemporary women’s brand, has terminated its license with Nzania Inc. and resumed business under its parent company BB Dakota Inc. BB Dakota had licensed the brand to Nzania in 2005. Founder-design director Gloria Brandes, who was responsible for design, merchandising and marketing as part of the license agreement, will, however, keep her roles at BB Dakota.

“I have great confidence in the viability of this brand,” says Brandes. “We have put together an amazingly strong and experienced team and have invested the necessary capital to assure a smooth transition and continued success. I am really enjoying being back at the helm of BB Dakota.”

Launched in 2005, the company currently offers a main line, a juniors line called Jack BBDakota and will this holiday season launch a fashion activewear line called X BBDAKOTA. The next few months will also see BB Dakota moving into a new headquarters in Costa Mesa, a historic building with a nostalgic rusted, corrugated metal warehouse exterior in a former shipyard. Part of the brand’s expansion also includes a new partnership with Samsung for its state-of-the-art warehouse and shipping facility and operating systems.
