The third edition of Asia Apparel Expo (18 - 20 February) again gathered a mix of more than 200 textile and manufacturing suppliers from Asia in Berlin.

The self-announced "largest trade show in Europe representing Asian apparel companies" organized by Mega Expo, Hong Kong, served its claim to bring sourcing opportunities to smaller European brands. "We met clients from different European countries such as Spain, Poland, Finland, The Netherlands and of course Germany," says Piyush Shah of Sheraton Apparels, Mumbai, who focuses on shirt production. He attended the trade show for the second time and seemed happy with the results: "Clients who come here are very genuine, you really make business in the end." "Visitors looked for all kinds of garments - from denim to jerseys or knitwear," states Ali Adnan of Indus Apparel from Lahore.

Split in two halls at the location of the Messe Berlin, Asia Apparel Expo also hosted some first-time exhibitors such as Bengal Glory from Dhaka: "I expected it to be busier," commented the company's director Hasan Paiker. “Wednesday was the liveliest day whereas Tuesday and Thursday stayed quite calm,” said exhibitors at Hong Kong based Mandarin De Apparel and Ecico Group. Still, exhibitors plan to return for the next edition in 2015. "We know that the show still needs to develop," says Joanne Davis, exhibition consultant for Mega Expo. "We will extend promotion to make Asia Apparel Expo more known as an important sourcing platform. But already the quality and mix of exhibitors is excellent, and as we all know, you need time to establish a new trade show."
