Founded at the end of 2011, is a source of visual inspiration for fashion addicts and food aficionados alike. Milan-based founder, blogger and - as she likes to consider herself - "fashion taster", Anna Marconi translates whatever she sees on international catwalks - be it a colour, a printed pattern, a texture or a silhouette – and translates it into alluring food images. The blog, posted in Italian and in English, pays testimony to the latest trend of fashion and food walking hand in hand. Enjoy! Interview by Maria Cristina Pavarini

You define yourself as a "Fashion Taster", what does that mean?

It is a term that was born with the blog. I literally consider myself as a fashion taster because I translate into food whatever I see - a colour, a printed pattern, a texture or a silhouette.

Can you describe how the website is structured and how it works?

Defining Taste of Runway as a blog that is focused on the kitchen is reductive. Defining it is as a fashion blog is incomplete. Taste of Runway is a dream coming true. Inside this platform one can find kitchen recipes inspired by catwalk looks. Since the last few days Taste of Runway has received a new structure. One can now search according to a designer, season, recipe or colour.

How did the website originate?

It originates from two great passions: fashion (I studied at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan) and kitchen (An art I learnt from my family through the years).

When did you launch the website and what was the initial reaction?

Taste of Runway started in November 2011. The initial reaction from users was of great astonishment. A year and a half later and I have received significant satisfaction, especially because the blog is receiving the attention of a world that has a great desire for Made in Italy creativity and often exalts and appreciates it even more than our own country does. Today the blog is read in 70 different countries and was studied by the Columbia University in New York and receives many requests daily, each one different from the other. It is a dynamic work and it always requires great care in presenting the best of creativity.

What did exactly the Columbia University asked for?

They made a study of my blog. I provided them with photographs and information and they prepared some lectures about it.

Who is your website aimed at?

To all people who want to give fashion a different taste, to those who want to treat themselves to the luxury of smiling while reading a short story, or to cook the recipes we present, to those who cook without forgetting that also the aesthetic aspect is an important one and to those who love life.

Who visits your website?

It's mainly two worlds. On the one side it's mostly fashion insiders - Taste of Runway has entered in the sphere of interest of many fashion brands and editorial offices of Italian and international fashion magazines. On the other hand there are kitchen lovers who are keen on aesthetics and can approach the fashion world in a much smarter way.

How many members does the site currently have and how many are you looking to have in the long run?

In the last month we registered almost 90,000 visits, but this figure will be growing in the long run thanks to a better optimization on search engines and thanks to a new platform that will help to keep our readers' interest high.

What services do you offer right now through your website?

Presently the blog is based upon the creativity of the recipes we offer. The recipes are inspired by catwalk looks, though we are also working on a new project that we will soon unveil.

Does fashion, streetwear or sportswear play an important role in your website?

Inspiration always arrives from catwalk shows in Milan, Paris, London and New York.

How do you stay in touch with your members? How important is the social network aspect for this website?

In the web 2.0 era there are no longer barriers. Everyone is free to communicate, speak, love or criticize the content we post. Establishing a good relationship with users requires a lot of work and commitment even if often big companies underestimate it, since they don't believe how strong and helpful social networks can be (or perhaps they are afraid of them). I interact with the visitors of my blog by answering each of their questions, all of their comments, their e-mails and messages - private ones or via social networks. Availability is very important.

What section, service or part of the website do you personally like most?

I like best the survey through which anyone can vote for their favourite look. The most voted look is posted together with a recipe. I also like the section that searches according to single colours. I think it is a lot of fun to have the possibility to create a dish that is characterised by the colour that best expresses your mood in a specific moment. For instance, tonight my dinner will be in yellow. And what about yours?
