California-based denim and lifestyle brand True Religion will have a new chief marketing officer as of Monday.

The company has announced that Mary Alderete, who most recently served as vice president of global brand marketing at Levi Strauss and Co., will start in the role on November 18. She will lead the brand’s marketing strategy across its retail, wholesale, international and e-commerce platforms. Alderete will report to CEO David Conn.

“True Religion set the standard for premium denim by merging quality craftsmanship and iconic style, and I am eager to build on the brand’s DNA at such an exciting moment,” she said in a company-issued statement. “I'm looking forward to collaborating with the leadership team, including the creative minds who helped to build the brand as well as the rush of new talent, to design the future of True Religion in a way that will make denim history.”

The True Religion brand is now distributed in more than 50 countries. Aside from its wholesale business, it operates 148 monobrand stores in North America and more than 30 in other parts of the world.
