The producers of Air New Zealand Fashion Week announced a preliminary list of participating designers and labels yesterday and said that other ones are expected to sign on before the schedule for the Auckland-based event is finalized in early September.

The annual event, which will mark its ninth edition in 2009, runs Sept. 21-25.

The announced list of 33 names includes returning national favorites Adrian Hailwood, Cybéle, Huffer, Juliette Hogan, Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, Nom*D, Salasai, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Trelise Cooper, Twentysevennames and Zambesi. Two Australian brands, House of EZIS and United Constructions, have also confirmed that they will take part.

In addition, the new eco and animal-friendly line MUSE by former Heatherette designer Richie Rich and actress Pamela Anderson, will be the first US line to show on the runway at ANZFW. Rich and Anderson will attend the week, which falls just days after MUSE’s planned launch during New York Fashion Week.
