Milano Unica has closed its first anticipated edition of Prima MU held in Milan's Portello area from 1 to 3 July, 2015. Despite textile shows usually taking place in September and February, Milano Unica's organization has launched this new initiative aimed at meeting many upmarket and designer brands’ requests. The show presented fabric novelties for f/w 2016/2017.

The event gathered 66 Italian textile companies offering fabrics for womenswear, menswear and leisurewear on 1,365 sq. meters exhibition space, which recalled 1,580 insiders from 706 companies. Among companies visiting the show were Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Max Mara, The Kooples, Paul Smith, Thomas Pink, Turnbull & Asser, Etro, Marni, Versace and Alexander McQueen. Most of the visitors were Italian, but also foreigners (69% were European, 22% Asian and 6% from the US).

“Before we started Prima MU, we considered it a sort of test. Now considering the positive results we have to think how all this can be continued for future seasons,” commented Silvio Albini, president, Milano Unica. “The positive response came from insiders –and not only from the Italian ones. Thanks to authorities we could also start new initiatives aimed at supporting Made in Italy internationally, while launching our international editions as part of Milano Unica World,” he continues referring to the upcoming debuting edition of Milano Unica New York, to be held at Jacob Javits Center, from 20 to 22 July during New York Textile Week (also see: Milano Unica New York will host 87 Italian weavers on an area of over 1,000 sq. meters.

From 8 to 10 September, the 21st edition of Milano Unica will take place in Milan. Its first night will kick off with the On Stage fashion show organized in collaboration with Woolmark and Via Montenapoleone associated retailers for the On Stage fashion show (also see here).

The 2015 Milano Unica World will close with Milano Unica Shanghai taking place from 13 to 15 October in the National Exhibition and Convention Center of Shanghai.
