Activewear brand Australian and premium denim brand Roy Roger’s are launching a 100% Italian capsule collection dedicated to tennis called Australian x Roy Roger’s.
The capsule, debuting for s/s 2019, will be sold starting from February 2019 through a selected network of mostly Italian and European stores and through the e-commerce platforms of both brands.
The collection offers pieces that blend tennis’ rigor and the denim world’s irreverence. Among them there is a jeans jacket with sleeves made from sweatshirt material and rigorous white polos carrying small pockets completed by typical jeans stitching. Also available are comfy sporty shorts and Bermuda shorts for both men and women.
The capsule uses a special fabric that looks like traditional denim but it’s not. It is made with a new generation of super-lightweight stretch denim developed by Australian and Roy Roger’s by uniting their abilities to create technical sport materials and premium fabrics.
“Australian is a brand founded by a tennis player for tennis players,” says Lorenzo Maioli, CEO, Australian. “By following this inspiration Australian has always developed innovative fabrics that are comfortable and performing when playing on the tennis field. This collaboration with Roy Roger’s is strategic for more aspects–for its excellent technical know-how and heritage-meets-experimentation characteristics–therefore making it an ideal partner to explore a series of new brand extension projects.”
“I have always been a great fan of tennis,” says Niccolò Biondi, CEO, Roy Roger’s. “For this reason, when I was offered the opportunity to start this collab, I had no doubt. The idea to make denim and tennis worlds meet together looked super cool to me. Such different universes have originated a fun technical capsule that could remain faithful to both brands’ DNA.”
