While 2014 marked the year of the sneaker, 2015 is the year where even the last person is going to join this trend. And while most sneakers still have to be laced up, some brands are already one step ahead: lace-less slip-on sneakers! (Not to confuse with the Vans Slip-on, but a real sneaker, just without laces.)

Because these days nothing is more important than comfort and functionality. Two features most sneakers already offer. But this next generation of footwear plays right into the cards of busy sneakerheads. Slip-on sneakers can be put on in a matter of seconds, rather than spending minutes on lacing them.

Nike offers different variations of the slip-on sneaker: Air Jordans XIX, Air Jordan Future Premium or the Lunar Fly 306. Brands like Puma and Jeffrey Campbell also launched lace-less sneakers. The trend even made it onto the runway at the DKNY SS ’15 show, where models were wearing black slip-on sneakers with green ties across the top of the shoe. But the definite sign that this is going to be a huge trend in 2015, is the announcement that Nike will launch a version of the self-lacing Nike Mag sneaker from the movie “Back To The Future II”. Comfort and functionality at its best.

Question is, are we just getting lazy or is this really a way to save time slipping on sneakers instead of lacing them? Nonetheless, these sneakers are definitely an eyecatcher.
