Fashion reflects what’s going on in society. That’s a fact. It always has and always will. And so it’s no surprise that the latest trend in fashion is active wear. Or better:  active wear inspired clothing such as leggings and cycling pants!

Right now, the health and fitness trend is widely popular. Yoga, Zumba, Crossfit – you name it. That’s probably why we see more and more people walking around in their gym clothes on a daily basis. And there is a good reason why they don’t change clothes after their workout: Active wear is comfortable and most importantly versatile, having a tight fit and being made out of a stretchy nylon material.

And while we are used to seeing a combination of leggings and tank tops, the active wear trend has eventually arrived in every-day fashion and even designer collections.

Raf Simons presented somewhat oversized cycling shorts with A-line, asymmetrical coats at Dior, while Lacoste showed leggings with almost Teva-esque sandals and big, stiff jackets with an oversized collar. As an alternative, Degen used wool and cotton for their leggings and combined them with sleeveless knit shirts, knitted racer back crop tops and wool socks in bulky sandals.

The fast fashion chains took a different turn, making the leggings a trendy It-piece that goes with almost anything. A definite favorite in terms of styling leggings, is the allover look: Tally Weijl shows that combining a blue plaid leggings with a mint green plaid sleeveless blouse creates a kind of 90s grunge look, while Patrizia Pepe provides the glamorous alternative of a dark, rose-covered leggings with the matching V-neck silk blouse and an edgy black leather jacket.

And for those brave boys that also want to rock the leggings trend, Alexander Wang x H&M and Lacoste have got you covered!
