Première Vision, the French specialized fabric trade show, has named young designer Yiqing Yin as jury president of its 6th edition of PV Awards.

Born in China, Yiqing Yin is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs and has lived and worked in Paris, where she has shown her collections during the Haute Couture fashion weeks since 2011. She was awarded The Andam Prize for First Collections in 2011, and since January 2014 has been the creative director of the Leonard fashion house.

As part of a new generation of designers working in the international fashion scene, Yiqing Yin designs clothing as an evolving structure, comparable to a moving sculpture, influenced and driven by plays on volumes and materials, for an architectural and sensual result.

Prior to Yiqing Yin, PV Awards Jury presidents have been: Veronique Nichanian (Hermès) in 2009, Ennio Capasa (Costume National) in 2010, Roland Mouret (Roland Mouret) in 2011, Felipe Oliveira Baptista (Lacoste) in 2012 and Alessandro Sartori (Berluti) in 2013.

Also part of this year’s contest jury will be Vladimiro Baldin, product development & style coordination director, Diesel (Italy), Francamaria Bartolucci, product development, Vivienne Westwood (UK), and Edward Crutchley who has been textile design and development consultant for Louis Vuitton Homme since 2007.

After a first meeting in early September, the jury’s mission at the show is to select the Première Vision exhibitors’ most outstanding creations, from the fabrics chosen for the autumn winter 15/16 season at the forums. These fabrics will be indicated by a special label at The Forum at Première Vision, in Hall 6. Final deliberations will be held at the show the morning of Thursday 18 September. Winners will be announced by designer Yiqing Yin the same day.
