Although it’s many miles from the sea, Munich in promises to be very nautically minded in July.

The summer ispovision (www.ispovision.com) exhibition, part of the larger ispo show that will be held in Munich July 3-5, will pay special attention to the America’s Cup 2007 yacht race and highlight associated yachting-fashion trends.

Featured brands at the show will include Murphy&Nye, the official clothing partner of the 32nd America’s Cup, which will show its licensed and s/s 2006 collections. In addition, America’s Cup crew equippers Henry Lloyd, Prada-Luna Rossa, North Sails, Prada, Prince Henry and Sergio Tacchini as well as merchandising partner Pro Source Alinghi will exhibit yachting sportswear of the future there.

The show will mark the first time leading yachting style brands and the equipper of the America’s Cup crews will be seen together at an international trade fair for the fashion and sport sectors. Ispovision will serve as an information platform about the booming sport and sailing market and its associated effects on the fashion and lifestyle markets. The participating yachting-style exhibitors will show their wares in a special section of Hall A1, called the America’s Cup Village, which will take its architectural inspiration from the America’s Cup harbor in Valencia.

One highlight of the village will be the 24 m long America’s Cup yacht of the German crew, which will sail a few days before in Valencia. The participation of the German syndicate is an historic event, because the United Internet Team Germany is the first German challenger for the high-prestige trophy in the 154-year history of the America’s Cup.

Ispovision’s annual GQ Style Night will also be America’s Cup-themed. The original trophy from 1851 will be flown in from Valencia to Munich for one night and placed on a safeguarded pedestal for viewing. And the evening’s fashion show will feature the best looks in yachting style.
