Berlin is due to get yet another new mall: In 2018, the Volt “leisure and experience mall” will opens its doors to the public near the spacious Alexanderplatz in the Mitte district of Berlin. The new Volt venue will be on 29,500 square meters of space and combine 13,000 square meters of retail space with action sports such as wave surfing, indoor skydiving, events and a hotel.

The new concept for the lifestyle experience location was created by architect J. Mayer H. and Partners, who was named the winner from those invited to bid by project developer TKN Real Estate Solutions AG in cooperation Jochen Schweizer Projects AG.

W. Hoffmann of J. Mayer H. explains: “In Berlin there is already a wide range of shopping malls, that’s why this concept should offer something different and appeal to a new target group. This experient-based overall concept was realized in cooperation with fun sports expert Jochen Schweizer. The consistent lifestyle concept appeals to a brand and lifestyle oriented, active customer and will include brands from the streetwear, skating, surf and water sports sector.”

All in all, Volt has about 60 branded shops with a focus on sports, sportswear, lifestyle, trends and accessories. “The concept of ‘smart urban lifestyle’ will also be reflected in the choice of brands,” says a J. Mayer H spokesperson.
