Vladimiro Baldin, product development and style coordination director, Diesel, (AKA “Vlady”) leaves the company and will be product creation director for Italian global eyewear company Safilo and will focus on product development and innovation and global creative operations starting October 1st, 2014.

“After all these years I decided to change and move from the denim sector to a new one. I chose Safilo because the group represents my personal values. I felt immediately bound to the group as it believes in innovation and looks ahead to invest in future generations like their new product school they will start in 2015. At the same time I see this new experience as a personal need of approaching a different sphere, a new challenge and a different path in my life.”

Baldin, born in Padua, Italy, in 1974, spent a few early-years working in an Italian casualwear company. He then started working for Diesel in 1998. Since then, he covered tasks such as sourcing and buying management and directing the product development department. Between 2006 and 2010 he coordinated Diesel's style and creative office. In 2010 Baldin took over the management of the creative and product development teams, combining his experiences to contribute to and drive from the source to the final result of the finished product.

“I needed to see other horizons and learn again new things, even if I will always continue to project myself in the fashion system thanks to Safilo’s wide portfolio of brands,” Baldin explained. “The relationship with Diesel and the creative direction in all these years have been positive and we reciprocally estimate and trust each other deeply. Moreover I can say I spent in Diesel 16 fantastic years, which made me grow, learn and create unexpected and high quality products. Though who knows what the future will be like? My love for the denim world will always continue. So never say never."
