Italian footwear retail company Vergelio Calzature goes to Percassi, Italian retail giant company.

Vergelio Group opened its first Milan store in 1939. It now owns 12 multibrand stores, including prestigious shopping locations such as Via Montenapoleone, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Corso Buenos Aires. The group includes the insignias Vergelio, Vierre and Marilena and sells luxury footwear brands and top quality own private labels. The founder of the company, Roberto Vergelio, will continue working for the group as a consultant and all of his employees were absorbed by the new owner.

Aim of the operation is to start opening new multibrand stores worldwide and eventually revamp some of the existing locations and convert others as part of other Percassi retail activities. “Milan is considered a fashion capital,” explains Roberto D’Anna, financial analyst of Dream Capital Partners, through which the research of the new owner and the acquisition operations were brought ahead.  “Since there are not many multibrand chain stores worldwide, Percassi Group aims at opening own new luxury multibrand footwear stores in key international shopping destinations such as, for instance, Dubai, Eastern markets and Eastern Europe under the Vergelio Group insignias.”

Founded in 1976 by Antonio Percassi, Percassi Group employs over 5,000 people and focuses on three main business areas: House of Brands, Retail Development and Real Estate. The House of Brands division takes care of its own brands Kiko Milano, Madina and Womo (cosmetics) and Atalanta (Italian soccer team), in partnership with Billionaire Italian Couture apparel brand. The Retail Development area focuses on opening stores for brands such as Gucci, Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike and Ferrari. In the past they developed stores for the Benetton group globally and contributed to the arrival of Inditex Group (Zara, Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Pull and Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius) in Italy, as well as for Swatch, Calvin Klein, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger and Levi’s. In the Real Estate segment Percassi develops and promotes significant shopping mall projects in Italy and worldwide.
One of them is the Oriocenter, near Milan’s airport of Orio al Serio in Bergamo. Important projects currently underway include the Linate Park project, near Linate Airport, the massive operation to restore the San Pellegrino Terme spa resort to its glorious Art Nouveau past and the construction of the Canyon Forest Village in the United States, a commercial tourism and residential center in the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, with an estimated investment of €300 million Euros.
