Zound Industries, known for its two brands Coloud and Urbanears, has a new investor in Varenne Investment. The firm will help execute the company’s plans to expand globally. To date, Zound Industries has established distribution in close to 40 markets worldwide for its two brands and developed headphone programs with companies and brands such as H&M, Bershka, Pull & Bear, 55DSL and Marshall. The company also has licensing agreements with Hello Kitty (Sanrio), Star Wars (LucasArts), Marvel, NHL and Sponge Bob (Nickleodeon). “In a very short period of time Zound has become a major global supplier of high quality and designed headphones. This fits well in Varenne's long-term investment strategy. We look forward to working with the Zound team to help develop and pursue their expansion plans," said Josefine Grane, investment manager at Varenne. The Varenne stake in the company, together with extended bank financing, should enable Zound Industries to secure production in order to meet the market demand for their products. As part of the agreement, Varenne also will take seat on the Board of Directors.
