Internet retail sales in the United States will reach nearly $230 billion by 2008 says a survey released by Forrester Research on Tuesday. These sales will account for10% of all US retail transactions in the US, adds the report.
The survey also reported that online purchases will account for $96 billion in US retail sales in 2003.
While Forrester notes that most of these online purchases will be for items such as computer hardware and software, tickets, books and travel, there was also good news for online clothing retailers. Apparel sold on the internet is expected to account for 4% of total US clothing sales by the end of 2003.
