The Japanese young fashion and casual wear retailer Uniqlo has opened a pop-up-store in anticipation of its big store opening near the opera this autumn. The small pop-up-store in the heart of the Marais, a well-known and popular shopping area of Paris, on rue des Blanc-Manteaux offers just a small selection of its overall collections: two jeans styles each for men and women in different washes (€39.90), T-shirts and cardigans in merino wool and cashmere (€69.90). The small store is approximately 30 sq. meters in size and will be open through Sept. 13. The big flagship store, scheduled to open in October 2009, will be situated at 17, rue Scribe, near the old Parisian Opera, and will have a commercial surface area of 2,150 square meters. The interior architecture was assigned to Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall Inc. Uniqlo already operates a smaller store in the commercial center of La Defense, a business area in the western suburbs of the town. Recently, the big fashion retailer surprised the industry, with the announcement of a five-year collaboration with the famous German designer Jil Sander.
