Following a 30-city tour across America, Australia and Canada, Underskatement, the skateboarding film festival, will make its Italian debut in Milan on December 20. Beginning at 9 p.m. 18 short films and documentaries, each a maximum of seven minutes in length, will be shown at the former cinema and skate venue Bastard Warehouse. Filmmakers include well-known artists in the global international skateboarding and art scene such as Mark Gonzales (“Cold Water”), Steve Salisan (“Bugs”), Chris Johanson (“Encinitas Realization”), Trevor Prescott, Rubin Orkin and Curtis Hsiang. Following the films will be a skate session with snacks and drinks. Andreas Trolf and David Franklin launched Underskatement eight years ago in San Francisco, with the goal of bringing the world of skateboarding to the big screen. Spaghetto Child, the association for the development of contemporary art and the culture of skateboarding, along with Diana Manfredi and Alessia Pelistri’s agency January 29th, are behind the event in Italy, whose official sponsor is none other than the American streetwear brand Ecko Unlimited.
