Denim By Premiere Vision, the international denim-focused trade show, is ready to start. The event will take place on 19 and 20 November 2014 in Barcelona, at Fira Barcelona Montjuic, Hall 8.

The show will present 97 exhibitors, of which 48% are weavers, 22% are manufacturers, launderers and finishers, 20% are accessory specialists, 4% fiber producers and spinners plus another 6% including insiders such as technology developers and promotional organizations. Among the exhibiting companies, the greatest share is from Turkey (30%), followed by Italy (20%), Spain and Morocco (each 7%), Tunisia (3%) and, lower in percentage, from Japan, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Brazil.

Attracting the Northern markets
The show expects to welcome around 4,000 people considering that the previous May edition registered 4,479 visitors. In order to recall top international visitors from all over the world – including Southern and Northern European countries – the show has signed Skandigang, a co-branding and marketing agreement with Copenhagen’s CIFF trade show (Copenhagen International Fashion Fair). The agreement’s name is inspired by Denim By PV’s major inspiration theme “Gangs of Denim”. “Our ‘Skandigang’ initiative wants to establish a long-term relationship between Barcelona and Copenhagen,” commented Chantal Malingrey-Perrin, director, Denim By PV. “We find the Scandinavian market very interesting. It is not so important in terms of volumes, though it is characterized by premium products, unique brands and a great culture for denim. By now we agreed on a two-year collaboration, but it could continue for longer than that.” From this edition onwards, Denim By PV Barcelona will host an area dedicated to CIFF, while the January 2015 edition of CIFF will host a Denim By PV section in Copenhagen.

Showing the hottest “gangs”
Main focus of the show will be new denims, casual fabrics, developments, finishes and general strategy previews for s/s 2016. According to the show’s major inspiring theme “Gangs of Denim”, various urban attitudes through which denim can be interpreted will be showcased. “The show’s trend forum will present three major trends, or ‘gangs’,” explained Pascaline Wilhelm, fashion director, Première Vision. “The Burner Crew Gang is focused on natural, rustic and prismatic color denims, including sun-burnt shades, new natural fiber mixes such as cotton-hemp or cotton-linen with new slub effects for comfy silhouettes; the Blue Blood Gang concentrates on radical blues, elaborated clean and structured denims employing very thin yarns, high-density and high-performance stretch and non-stretch fabrics; and the Crazy Drifters Gang is showing pieces with shocking contrasts and authentic denims carrying cool imperfections as well as a series of new fibers such as cupro, viscose and lyocell.” Wilhelm continues: “Other general trends which are pervading many of our exhibitors’ offers include a wide offer of waterless treated and dyed denim, fabrics made with recycled fibers plus some highly destroyed fabrics, perfect to be used either for loose fit items or sexy and body hugging ones.”
