US-designer Tommy Hilfiger is the new patron of the “Designer for Tomorrow 2014” (DfT) award hosted by department store chain Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf and its online shop Fashion ID. During the time span of one year, Tommy Hilfiger will accompany the program and support aspiring fashion designers with his expertise. In previous editions, names such as Stella McCartney (2013) and Marc Jacobs (2012) have accompanied the Designer for Tomorrow award as patrons.

In his function for DfT, Tommy Hilfiger currently picks his top 10 from all budding designers’ applications and will elect the final winner together with the judging panel during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in July. As part of the program, Hilfiger will also support the winner in the idea finding for his/her subsequent capsule collection. In addition, the newcomer talent will get the possibility to work together with the Tommy Hilfiger design teams in New York and Amsterdam.

The Designer for Tomorrow award aims to encourage talented junior designers individually and sustainable within the fashion business.
