On Thursday evening, July 8th, Berlin senator for economics and technology Cornelia Yzer handed over the Start your Fashion Business 2014 award to German newcomer designer Tim Labenda. Second till forth prices went to by Marina Hörmanseder, menswear label Dyn, and Malaika Raiss. Over 50 designers from Berlin applied for the award. The prices had a total worth of 100,000 Euro. Long-term goal of the award is to establish young fashion labels in Berlin as well as internationally.

Next to designer Jette Joop, the jury included German Vogue editor-in-chief Christiane Arp, KaDeWe CEO Andre Maeder, FAZ responsible editor Alfons Kaiser as well as Anita Tillmann, CEO of Premium exhibitions.

“Berlin is the German fashion capital and the support of talented fashion labels is key element of our fashion facilitation. Next to slots at fashion shows during the Berlin Fashion Week and five international presentations per year, we support young fashion companies within their foundation and offer coaching. We support the awardees to start an international career,” explains senator Yzer.
