Siwy denim has a chic new look and direction under its newly appointed Creative Director Jimmy Taverniti. The Los Angeles-based women’s denim label is evolving to become a full lifestyle brand - with a French, vintage-inspired twist.

Taverniti, whose first collection will debut for Spring 2016, brings a vast range of denim expertise and innovation to the ten year-old brand. “We are excited to have a man who really can create something that’s never existed,” says Alain LaFourcade, COO of Siwy. “Taverniti is a true visionary, and not just with denim. He is well versed in all fabric textures/techniques and is a master of his craft.”

French born Taverniti, who formerly launched the successful Taverniti So Jeans label, has transformed Siwy into a lifestyle brand with a full range of tops, dresses and jeans including trending activewear-inspired pieces. “We wanted to keep the femininity of the [original line], but we evolved that to the next level,” says LaFourcade.

The collection, which wholesales from $70 to $279, maintains a relaxed California lifestyle look, yet has an elevated, couture touch. Taverniti says he is excited to be onboard and oversee the design process. “This is a great opportunity for me to work with Siwy and their team of denim experts. Their respect for their workers, using environmental friendly washes, and the belief in luxury craft are completely in sync with mine,” Taverniti explains.

According to LaFourcade, Taverniti has creative freedom in his new role for the vertical company, which develops and manufactures its collections in its factory in Los Angeles. For Spring, Taverniti utilized a mixture of fabrics including lace, cotton, French terry and denim and applied innovative washes and hand dyed treatments.

“My passion is to transform the fabric - to dye, to wash - this is my DNA,” says Taverniti. Taking inspiration from fashion icons such as Jane Birkin as well as Hollywood movies and American sportswear, Taverniti added a sophisticated European flair to the collection.

To create its feminine, vintage chic look, Taverniti applied lace to denim tops, artisanal tie-dye washes to sweatshirts and intricate hand beading to jeans. Key pieces include an ‘80s inspired denim/athletic short, a denim dress with distressed edges and a sophisticated raw denim jacket and matching high waist jean.
