It was announced today that Jeffrey Tweedy, an industry veteran of such brands as Polo Ralph Lauren, Alexander Julian, Hugo Boss, Cross Colours, Karl Kani Jeans and Spike’s Joint and who most recently served as executive vice president of Sean John, is the new president of House of Dereon, a licensed women’s fashion line produced by the Tarrant Apparel Group and created by entertainer Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles.

Tweedy has more than 25 years experience in the fashion business. In a written statement, he said of his new position: “I am reinvigorated by the challenge of helping create the next great women’s contemporary brand. I thank Beyonce and Tina for the opportunity to lead this brand and talented team’s growth.”

House of Dereon, which is named after named after Beyonce’s seamstress grandmother, Agnes Dereon, recently launched with a s/s 2006 collection of casual sportswear, including several denim pieces. The brand targets women ages 22 to 40 and will begin retail distribution in the US this November at 450 stores nationwide.

The brand is headquarted at 1450 Broadway in New York City.
