True Religion ( is heading uptown.

The apparel and jeans manufacturer announced Wednesday that it has signed a lease for its second store in New York City. The new 1,400-sq.-foot (130-sq.-meter) store, on Third Avenue between 65th and 66th Streets on the Upper East Side, will sell the complete True Religion collection – including denim, sportswear and licensed merchandise. It is due to open in spring 2008.

The store will be the brand’s 22nd standalone. Its other New York City shop is on Prince Street in SoHo.

The company is clearly in retail expansion mode. Earlier this month, it announced that it will open a store at the San Diego Fashion Mall in Southern California in spring 2008 and it unveiled its newest store, at the Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta, on October 1.
