Following its first US shoe drop in October to aid communities devastated by hurricanes in the South, TOMS Shoes, the socially responsible American footwear brand, is aiming this holiday season to give away 30,000 shoes in 30 days. Founded in May 2006, the company has since given over 85,000 pairs of shoes to kids in Argentina, South Africa, Ethiopia and the US. Founder Blake Mycoskie created the brand with the idea of giving away one shoe to a child in need for every pair purchased. His latest goal, aiding the prevention of treatable diseases such as podoconiosis in Ethiopia, follows his pledge to give away 300,000 pairs of shoes globally in the next 12 months. In other news, the company will roll out its first vegan collection at retail next spring.
