The outdoor brand Timberland added another unit to its ever-growing portfolio of retail stores today.

Offering a broad range of men’s, women’s and kids’ footwear, apparel and accessories, and even limited edition and exclusive items down the road, the 2,000-sq.-foot store in the heart of SoHo sits well in the company’s overall strategy to give consumers more access points to the brand across wholesale, specialty retailers and outlets stores.

To compliment the opening, Timberland is ramping up its marketing in metropolitan New York this year via print and direct-to-consumer events, as well as innovative online and media channels.

The company also plans to partner with key community organizations to assist with the city’s re-greening projects.

As with all stores, reducing the environmental footprint was a goal. Thus, the original cast iron storefront was restored and exposed; floors and wood fixtures are made from 100% reclaimed wood and fixtures even carry “Recycled”, “Salvaged” and “Sustainable” metal or leather tags to explain the history behind the materials. In addition, the store features energy-efficient lighting, a more eco-conscious HVAC system (using non-chlorofluorocarbon-based refrigerants), and wall paints and sealants containing reduced chemicals.
